Full Job Description

The Fisher House Program provides temporary accommodations and support for families, support persons and Caregivers of Veterans and Active Duty Military receiving treatment at major military and VA medical facilities.

VA Fisher House accommodations are provided at no cost to guests and located within walking distance of the treatment facility.

The Housing Manager serves as supervisor of the Fisher House program reporting directly to the facility Deputy Director.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/08/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.

In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1.) Managed financial operations and monitored expenditures, applying cost-benefit analysis to prioritize resources and ensure effective program delivery.

2.) Oversaw housing program operations, including staff coordination, policy implementation, and decision-making to resolve complex issues and maintain service quality.

3.) Collaborated with national-level stakeholders and organizations to secure and obligate funding, supporting housing program initiatives and facility improvements.

4.) Served as primary point of contact for high-visibility events and partnerships, coordinating VIP visits, outreach efforts, and program awareness campaigns.

5.) Developed and implemented program materials and communications, including SOPs, reports, and outreach content, to support operations and inform stakeholders.

Major Duties:

Duties are but not limited to: Managerial Responsibilities Oversees all financial, operational, and administrative aspects of the Fisher House program.

Develops and manages budgets, monitors expenditures, and ensures efficient use of resources. Supervises staff, sets priorities, and ensures program goals are met.

Coordinates with internal departments and external partners to support facility operations and improvements. Ensures safety, facility upkeep, and overall program effectiveness.

Liaison and Communication Responsibilities Serves as the primary representative and liaison between the Fisher House, VA leadership, and external stakeholders.

Coordinates with community partners, federal agencies, and the Fisher House Foundation. Manages public affairs, media interactions, tours, and VIP visits.

Develops outreach materials, training, and program communications. Participates in committees, identifies program needs, and implements improvements.

Customer Service Responsibilities Ensures a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for Veterans, families, and caregivers.

Addresses guest needs, resolves issues, and enhances overall experience. Uses feedback to improve services and remove barriers to care.

Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and adapts services to diverse populations. Maintains high standards of service quality and guest satisfaction.

Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, 3:30pm -12:00am , Rotating Weekends and holidays Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
