About the Position: Serves as the Chief of Environmental Services Branch in the Logistics Division at Winn Army Community Hospital.

Responsible for all aspects of the Hospital Environmental Services Program which includes Housekeeping, Linen Management, regulated Medical Waste, Solid Waste, Medical Gas, and the Transportation Program.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience includes experience planning, coordinating, monitoring or budgeting for a hospital environmental services contract; developing or implementation of hospital housekeeping programs; preparing quality assurance reports; and establishing work schedules.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Health Care Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

  • Plan, coordinate, monitor, and budget for the Hospital Environmental Services contract.
  • Schedule and conduct inspections of completed work of 106 contract employees.
  • Prepare quality assurance reports, contract Discrepancy Reports and all administrative matters pertinent to contract awards, discrepancies, and administration.
  • Develop overall policies for environmental services to insure the visual and aseptic cleanliness of all facilities and applicable grounds.
  • Provide technical and administrative information to the Contracting Officer, Infection Control Nurse, and various other hospital personnel pertaining to linen functions.
  • Manage the solid waste, Regulated Medical Waste and Recyclable waste programs.
  • Supervise a Transportation Coordinator who conducts tasks associated with both Fleet and Freight Management.
  • Supervise personnel engaged in ordering, receiving, and evaluating purity of medical gas provided via contracts for all DHA Low Country Market organization.
