This job involves leading efforts to protect Pennsylvania's historic buildings and sites from damage caused by state and federal projects, while also organizing educational programs and outreach to promote preservation.
You'll serve as a key contact for partnerships with transportation and army corps agencies and help develop statewide plans for historic sites.
It's ideal for someone passionate about history with experience in cultural resource management and strong skills in teamwork and communication.

In this supervisory role, you will oversee the consideration and protection of above ground properties which may be affected by state and federal projects; plan and implement above ground education and outreach; and help to guide proactive research, documentation, and survey efforts.
This position will serve as the primary point of contact related to PA SHPO's programmatic agreement with PennDOT, FHWA, and USACE.
You will have the opportunity to assist with preparing and implementing a comprehensive statewide historic preservation plan as well as the preparation and implementation of a strategic plan for the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.
SHPO staff has the opportunity to work form home, with the exception of site visits/field work, leadership meetings and one (1) day a month in the office in Harrisburg.
Specific days will be determined according to bureau needs.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
