Job Description

Summary

This job involves researching, writing, and editing detailed historical accounts about the Marine Corps' operations and development, including conducting interviews with current and former Marines.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a HISTORIAN in the HISTORY DIVISION of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning, writing, and editing official book-length narrative accounts that document the history, operations, and institutional development of the Marine Corps.

  • You will plan, organize, and write a substantial portion or all of an official narrative account involving a major topic of Marine Corps history.
  • You will review relevant secondary source material, incorporating current historical interpretations, analyses, and arguments as practicable for meeting project directive guidelines.
  • You will conduct interviews with active, retired, or former Marines ranging from junior enlisted through senior flag officers.
  • You will ensure thorough editing and proofreading, that the writing is free from obvious error.
