Job Description
Summary
This job is for a crew foreman who leads a team in maintaining highways, including tasks like installing pipes, paving roads, digging ditches, and setting up traffic controls to keep work zones safe.
It involves supervising workers, handling reports and employee evaluations, and being ready for emergencies or bad weather that might require long shifts.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in road construction or maintenance, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work outdoors in tough conditions.
Key Requirements
- 3.5 years of related work experience in highway maintenance or equivalent
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required upon hire
- Obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks like bending, climbing, and walking on uneven terrain
- Supervisory experience in managing crews and personnel actions
- Knowledge of SCDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Manual for setting up safe work areas
- Availability for overtime, extended hours, nights, weekends, and emergency operations in inclement weather
