This job is for a crew foreman who leads a team of workers in maintaining highways and roadside areas, such as clearing vegetation, fixing shoulders and ditches, and handling litter removal.
It also involves operating heavy equipment like trucks and loaders, training the team, and keeping records of the work done.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in outdoor maintenance, leadership skills, and the ability to work in tough weather conditions while driving large vehicles.
As Crew Foreman, supervise a crew of maintenance employees utilizing proper maintenance techniques while performing duties using manual labor during roadway and right of way maintenance activities.
Primary duties include maintenance of right of way (Including vegetation maintenance, shoulder/ditches, etc).
Other duties may include, but are not limited to, maintenance, signage and pavement markings, patching and paving, litter/debris removal, assessment, maintenance and installation of residential driveways.
Supervises and trains crew in the operation of equipment, to include but not limited, to dump trucks, backhoes, motor graders, and front-end loaders.
Maintains working knowledge and inputs daily work accomplishments into the Highway Maintenance Management System. Maintains weekly and monthly reports, time sheets, and cost records.
Supervises and trains crew in the operation of small equipment, power tools, and hand tools to perform assigned maintenance activities.
Supervises and coordinate pre-trip equipment/vehicle inspection in accordance with the Department's most current rules, policies and procedures for fleet safety. Performs on call duties.
Operates tandem dump truck with plow and salt spreader during snow and ice removal. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Three and one-half (3.5) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards.
May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
