Full Job Description

Operates and maintains medium duty equipment in the ROW crew, such as Skid Steer Loader, Aggregate Spreader, Belt Loader, Combination Tractor with Side Mounted Mower, and Tandem Dump Truck. Performs manual labor in the maintenance and repair of shoulders including grading, setting forms, pouring/finishing concrete for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and driveways; performs work, ditches, drainage structures, pavement markings, etc. Performs labor in the constructing of traffic control operations for work zones, to include lane closures, flagging traffic, and detours for the safety of the crew and the traveling public. Safely operates and maintains electric/gas powered tools in various phases of roadway maintenance. (e.g.; chain saw, weed eaters, drills jacks, wrenches, pavement breakers, air compressor, pumps, generators, etc.) Responds to after hour emergencies as directed to support inclement weather operations and other roadway related emergencies. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
