Job Description
Summary

Operates medium motorized equipment on the Drainage Crew, such as, but not limited to Aggregate Spreader, Belt Loader, Combination Tractor with Side Mounted Mower, Large Roller > 4 tons, Skid Steer Loader, Tandem Dump Truck, and Tractor with large mower, in the maintenance of highways. Performs traffic control operations for work zones, to include flagging traffic for the safety of the crew and the public during various phases of roadway maintenance. Performs manual labor in maintenance, repair, and cleaning of drainage structures and ditches. Assists with on-call operations for after hour emergencies, and other emergency and inclement weather operations to include Snow and Ice Plan and Hurricane Lane Reversal Plan. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
