Operates powered tools and hand tools to perform a variety of maintenance activities associated with vegetation management.
Assists with the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone. Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones. Operates small equipment such as a dump truck or forklift. Picks up litter, debris and dead animals. Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations; includes being available for extended working hours or 12-hour shifts, day or night. Operates standard dump truck with snowplow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highway and bridges. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
