Full Job Description
Operates small equipment such as forklift, concrete mixer, and brine sprayer in the daily routine of work requests for the patching crew. Performs manual labor in building catch basins, pouring concrete for curbs and raised medians, laying pipes for driveways and other drainage structures, repairing shoulders, clearing rights-of-way, and repairing bridges. Operates tractor-mounted sweeper broom in cleanup operations after full-depth repairs. Operates standard dump truck for hauling materials to the job site. Assists with the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone. Serves as flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones. Works during inclement weather and/or emergency operations, operating dump truck, sand spreader, and brine sprayer in snow and ice removal as necessary. May be required to work overtime or 12 hour shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required upon entry into the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with six (6) months of placement into the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
