This job involves leading the maintenance and management of heavy equipment and vehicles used for highway work in a Pennsylvania county, including supervising staff, handling budgets, and ensuring safety programs run smoothly.
You'll oversee repairs, training for operators, and compliance with drug testing rules to keep the transportation system reliable.
It's a great fit for someone with strong leadership skills and hands-on experience in equipment maintenance who wants to make a real impact on public infrastructure.

In this role, you will plan, direct, and manage the highway equipment maintenance program for a County Maintenance Organization.
Your responsibilities include developing and monitoring the county’s fleet model and budget, overseeing the maintenance, repair, and dispatch of heavy construction and automotive equipment, and supervising mechanic supervisors and shop personnel.
You will also ensure that all buildings, grounds, stockpiles, and equipment-related facilities are properly maintained.
A key part of the job is preparing and administering a preventative maintenance program for both equipment and buildings, reviewing the work of garage staff, and inspecting equipment to determine repair or replacement needs.
You will manage several important administrative and safety programs, including the county’s equipment operator training, testing, and certification program, where you will serve as a certified 3rd-party CDL examiner and equipment certifier.
You will also oversee the CDL Drug and Alcohol Testing Program to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
Your work supports the county’s ability to operate a safe, reliable fleet and maintain well-functioning facilities that keep highway operations running smoothly.
