This job involves installing, maintaining, and repairing high-voltage electrical systems, including overhead and underground lines, poles, transformers, and other equipment on a military installation in Kansas.
Workers handle tasks like troubleshooting energized lines up to 34,400 volts, often in challenging conditions such as climbing poles, working in manholes, or using bucket trucks.
It's a good fit for experienced electricians who are physically fit, comfortable with heights and confined spaces, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position:As an High Voltage Electrician you will perform a variety of duties in connection with the installation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground distribution systems on the installation.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) High Voltage Electrician ~ without more than normal supervision.
To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Installing, repairing, modifying, troubleshooting, loading and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures and controls and working with energized lines and distribution systems up to 12,470 volts.
Also diagnosing, modifying, overhauling, repairing and maintaining a variety of electrical devices, equipment and components.
- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort - Considerable physical effort is required in working aloft on poles, at ground level and in manholes.Work requires bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for long periods.
Work requires close coordination of eyes, hands, legs and body in installing, repairing and testing electrical equipment in confined spaces.
Working Conditions - Subject to danger of shock, cuts and bruises. Required to work in confined and dusty locations.Subject to danger of falling from ladders and line poles.
Works in dark, damp unsafe conditions inmanholes. Work may be required outside of normal duty hours which may include evenings,weekends and/or holidays in emergency situations.
Work may require the wearing of personalprotective equipment (PPE) which may include steel toe boots and rubber gloves. Major Duties:
