Advertised Job Summary

Performs highly-skilled work in construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems (including medium and high voltage), equipment, and fixtures.

Maintains and follows a safe, productive, cost effective, and comprehensive planned and corrective maintenance program for constant reliable operations related to all campus wide high voltage electrical systems.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma and 5 years of background experience in Mid to High Voltage (480V to 8320V) electrical distribution systems and the associated equipment of substations and energy plants.

• Confined Space certified;

• Licensed in SC as a General Contractor with a Public Electrical Utility Endorsement High Voltage Electrician;

• CDL License.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Due to the size and complexity of the various University utility systems, it is necessary that employee must have strong knowledge of high voltage distribution systems and the effects of work actions.

• Employee must be hard working, dependable and have safety as priority one.

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, one-line electrical diagrams and other electrical documents.

• Must have electrical troubleshooting skills and think logically.

• Must have the ability to lead by example, solve problems, take initiative to provide services, develop strong customer relationship.

• Must have the ability to keep accurate records, communicate effectively, develop proper procedures, communicate to management, and prepare reports.
