The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (8) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (E10) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Requirements

Experience
Education typically acquired through completion of high school. 

Heavy Equipment Mechanic 8

No specific type or amount is required.


Heavy Equipment Mechanic 9
Two years of experience assisting skilled trades people in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic E10
Four years of experience assisting skilled trades people in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment, including two years equivalent to a Heavy Equipment Mechanic 9.


Qualifications

Possession of an associate degree in Heavy Duty Truck/Heavy Equipment Repair may be substituted for two years of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

Completion of 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or more of the following coursework areas: heavy duty truck, heavy equipment repair, diesel engines, math, or physics may be substituted for one year of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.


Two years of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the repair and maintenance of automobiles may be substituted for one year of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications

To be considered for this position you must:

Possess a Commercial Learner’s Permit upon appointment to the position.

Continuing employment requires possession of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Group A with either an N or X endorsement and no air brake restrictions which must be obtained within 12 months of the date of hire into the position and must be maintained throughout employment in the position.

If applicable, attach a copy of your official college transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluation with your application.

educational equivalents.
