About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center in the Directorate of Medicine, Department of Medicine services in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes providing administrative and health care management support through research analysis; developing recommendations that enhance clinic or hospital operations efficiency; responsible for management of a complex, multi-faceted departmental budget.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D.

or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Conduct management studies, including cost effectiveness, organizational structure, and equipment utilization.
  • Establish operating policies to implement administrative management and personnel matters.
  • Perform management analyses for special projects.
  • Prepare a variety of monthly reports covering status of funds.
  • Advise various entities of significant problems related to budget matters.
  • Plan, direct, analyze, and coordinate administrative activities within the clinic as directed by Group Practice Manager.
  • Develop and maintain, data and analyze information.
