Summary

This job involves supporting military personnel, retirees, and their families by providing counseling on health benefits, coordinating medical evaluations and appointments, and delivering training sessions to staff and leaders.

About the Position: This position serves as a Health System Specialist - PEBLO located at IDES Clinic - Fort Drum, New York - Guthrie Army Health Clinics. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing automated systems to document case actions; updating electronic records, generating statistical reports, and analyzing data to identify trends for workflow improvement; Scheduling medical evaluation appointments for military personnel; Preparing and delivering briefings and training clinical staff related to program requirements.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

(NOTE: Copy of school transcripts must be attached.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

  • Provide comprehensive counseling to service members, retirees, and Families benefits, rights, obligations, and processes.
  • Coordinate medical evaluations, follow-up appointments, and medical related care for Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard personnel.
  • Coordinate reexaminations, including scheduling, data collection, and counseling
  • Prepare and deliver briefings and training sessions to installation leadership, professional development programs, clinical staff, and community forums.
  • Assist military personnel with benefits such as vocational rehabilitation, prosthetics, clothing allowance, aid and attendance, and other VA programs.
