The Opportunity
The Washington State Board of Nursing (WABON) is seeking a highly skilled investigator to support the Department’s mission to protect and improve the health of Washington residents.
This position provides professional, technical, and/or clinical expertise in delivering high-quality investigative services related to the licensing and discipline of nursing professionals and other regulated entities.

Option 1: Two (2) or more years of experience as a Health Care Investigator 2 (HCI 2) or higher.

Working Conditions:
The following describes the working conditions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Setting:
Telework is expected, except for occasional in-person meetings or extenuating circumstances. Sitting for extended periods. Requires field work when necessary to conduct in- person interviews and/or collect evidence.
Carrying files; using established methods to maneuver and/or transfer boxes; bend, grasp, and pinch; turn wrist and manipulate fingers; reach up and out; twist and bend; sit at computer and keyboard for long periods of time.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, generally 8 am to 5 pm. Teleworking is expected, considering timeliness and quality of work and the need to be accessible to other WABON staff for meetings and assignments.
Travel Requirements:
Requires travel statewide to accomplish investigative tasks, attend training, and meet with representatives from other agencies. Needs to be willing and able to travel statewide.
When driving for state business, the employee must be able to legally operate a state or privately-owned vehicle; OR provide alternate transportation while on state business.
Tools and Equipment:
Computer with Microsoft Office Suite; telephone; printer/copier/fax; automated paginating machine; vehicle.
Customer Interactions:
Frequent interaction with complainants, respondents, and witnesses. This occurs by mail, by telephone, and in person.
Also with attorneys, paralegals, other WABON staff, WABON members, and HSQA investigative staff. Routine interactions with law enforcement agencies and courts.
Must be able to cope with potentially stressful situations, including hostile clients and workload demands.

This position is covered by a bargaining unit for which the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) is the exclusive representative.
The DOH campus is a smoke-free, drug-free, alcohol-free, scent-neutral environment.
