Job Description

Summary

This job involves training medical providers across West Virginia on using the state's immunization system, troubleshooting technical issues, and conducting audits to ensure they follow federal vaccine program rules.

You'll travel to offices, clinics, and hospitals to review records, assess immunization coverage, and decide if providers can continue participating in the program.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or equivalent experience substitution on a year-for-year basis
  • Two years of full-time (or equivalent part-time/paid/volunteer) experience in a technical or program area related to health or human resources
  • OR a Master's degree in social work from a regionally accredited program
  • Substitution: Post-graduate education (15 semester hours = 1 year of experience) or one year in the Health and Human Resources series for training and experience
  • Ability to travel statewide for on-site training and audits
  • Skills in data validation, monitoring electronic health records, and using immunization registries
  • Experience with audits, program compliance, and reporting in healthcare settings

Responsible for enrollment training and troubleshooting issues both technical and on site for medical providers across the state of West Virginia.

Enrolls providers into West Virginia Statewide Immunization Information Systems (WVSIIS); On site training for medical providers on how to utilize the immunization registry and share all features and immunization reporting best practice as well as travel the state to conduct Vaccine for Children/Immunization Quality Improvement for Providers (VFC/IQIP) audits in physician offices, clinics and hospitals; Meet with office staff to conduct audits, reviews the requirements of the VFC program, use WVSIIS date to identify/assess pocket of needs as well as state and local reports to assess provider immunization coverage rates; Complete the required paperwork based on the findings from the office visit and recommend continued participation or disqualify provider from participation in the federal program; Data validation- constant data monitoring of electronic health records submitted via HL7 (Health Level Seven) in order for medical providers to receive Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) funding.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Substitution: Additional experience as described below may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Two (2) years full-time, equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in a technical or program area that is related to the area of employment.
Substitution: Post-graduate education in a field related to the area of employment may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours for one (1) year of experience.
OR
Master's degree in social work from a regionally accredited social work program from a regionally accredited college or university.

Note: Appointment above the entry rate may be made at 5% for each six (6) months of successfully completed work as an intern in a practicum placement with the Department of Health and Human Resources for the Master of Social Work degree.


Additional Information

One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the Health and Human Resources series may substitute for the required training and experience.
