Job Description

Summary

This job involves maintaining and securing computer hardware and software systems for a military intelligence task force in Key West, Florida, including identifying security risks, applying patches, and managing network configurations.

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S.

Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. These positions are located with the Joint Interagency Task Force South, U.S. Southern Command, Key West, FL, 33040 J6.

Identifying information technology security risks and vulnerabilities to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and/or data. AND 2.

Applying standards, policies, and security procedures to information systems including risk assessment testing; application of security patches; and/or preparing reports of documented findings. AND 3.

Performing system administration duties on a large network of computers with wide area network access such as installing application software for maintenance of system configuration files and applying integration of long-term information systems projects.

AND 4.

Utilizing, installing, and implementing computer application software for maintenance of system configuration files to include implementing computer diagnostic techniques and/or performance measurement tools, network monitoring software, and network addressing and configuration software.

In addition to the specialized experience listed above, your resume must show you have Information Technology-related experience.

Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT and should include information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: 1.

  • Serves as an IT Specialist (SYSANALYSIS) within the Directorate of Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C41) Systems, Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATFS), Truman Annex, Key West, FL.
  • Conduct information assurance activities on information systems such as application of security patches.
  • Provide technical expertise on system operations, hardware, and a wide variety of applications and programs.
  • Perform system administration duties on a large network of computers with wide area network access.
  • Install application software for maintenance of system configuration files.
