Summary

This job is for a Group Superintendent in the Florida Air National Guard, where you'll lead and manage a team of personnel, handle daily operations, and ensure everyone follows policies while promoting fairness and equal opportunity.

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

This National Guard position is for a GROUP SUPERINTENDENT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2397000 and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only.

Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard.

PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized.

Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation.

MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted: E9 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration.

Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information.

Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled.

Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11 Must have at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-09 level or the equivalent which provided a working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and federal civilian or military personnel programs; experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions; experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations; experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures; experience preparing written communications and oral presentations; experience in managing the function of the work to be performed; experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel?

Major Duties:

As a, Group Superintendent, GS-0301-11, you will exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.

Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

Advises on selection of candidates for vacancies, development opportunities, details, and reassignments; considers skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) and diversity objectives.

Applies MEO principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and decisions; and, ensures fair treatment of all personnel in a manner free of discrimination.

Develops, modifies, and/or interprets performance standards. Explains performance expectations to employees and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.

Holds employees accountable for satisfactory completion of work assignments. Appraises subordinate workers' performance ensuring consistency and equity in rating techniques.

Periodically reviews position descriptions to ensure accuracy and the most effective utilization of personnel resources. Explains classification determinations to subordinate employees.

Recommends awards when appropriate and approves within-grade increases. Mediates and resolves employee complaints and refers unresolved complaints to higher-level management.

Initiates actions to correct performance or conduct problems. Effects minor disciplinary measures such as, warnings and reprimands and recommends action in more serious disciplinary matters.

Prepares documentation to support actions taken. Identifies employees' developmental needs and provides or arranges for training (formal and on-the­job) to maintain and improve job performance.

Promulgates self-development. Administers leave program; approves master leave schedules to assure adequate coverage for peak workloads and traditional holiday vacation time.

Ensures education and compliance with security directives for employees with access to classified or sensitive material.

Recognizes and takes action to correct situations posing a threat to the health and safety of all airmen.
