Job Description

Summary

This groundskeeper role involves maintaining outdoor spaces by mowing lawns, trimming trees and shrubs, making minor repairs to paths and structures, and performing general upkeep around state facilities in West Virginia.

It's a hands-on job with early shifts, occasional weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs, requiring physical effort like lifting up to 50 pounds and working from heights.

A good fit would be someone reliable and physically fit with basic experience in landscaping or maintenance, who holds a valid driver's license and can handle routine outdoor work.

Full Job Description

Early Day Shift Position. Under general supervision, duties include grounds maintenance, trimming trees, cutting grass, and cultivating plants and shrubs.

Makes improvements to walks, lanes, sheds, and benches including painting and minor repairs. Performs preventive maintenance pertaining to grounds area.

Requires frequent lifting and moving up to 50 pounds. May be required to work from ladders, scaffolding, or from lift-truck. Performs other related work as required.

A valid driver’s license is required. Some weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday) and holiday work is required. This position is an essential position and may require emergency call-outs.

Pesticide applicator license preferred but not required.
