Under general supervision, assist in the coordination, development, and implementation of grant programs for the Department of Crime Victim Assistance Grants.

Develops data and relates information to current statewide system needs/gaps to establish funding priorities for the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), the State Victims Assistance Program (SVAP), and the Supplemental Allocation for Victims Services (SAVS) grant programs.

Prepares criteria for VOCA, VAWA, SVAP, and SAVS projects to be included in the annual Application, Guidelines and Procedures document.

Presents criteria for the funding of grant projects at annual funding guidelines workshops.

Reviews VOCA, VAWA, SVAP, and SAVS project applications in accordance with regulations and policy directives.

Prepares recommendations for VOCA, VAWA, SVAP, and SAVS projects to be funded for submittal to the South Carolina Public Safety Coordinating Council.

Prepares assigned portions of the VOCA annual report to the United States Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime in Washington, DC and the STOP VAWA Annual Reports.

  • Schedules and conducts on-site monitoring visits of VOCA, VAWA, SVAP, and SAVS projects to ensure compliance with policies/procedures/regulations.
  • Coordinates the provision of technical assistance to VOCA, VAWA, SVAP, and SAVS projects, including coordinating responses for programmatic and budget revisions.

    Responds to correspondence from project personnel in an accurate and timely fashion. Reviews and gives programmatic approval for all grant revision requests.

  • Completes all other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Ability to plan and organize.
    • Ability to speak publicly.
    • Ability to use a personal computer and other audio-visual equipment.
    • A basic understanding of word processing and graphics software is beneficial.
