Grants Coordinator I
The Department of Administration's Office of Executive Policy & Programs is seeking a Grants Coordinator I to join the team.
We are in growth mode, and it is an exciting time to be a part of South Carolina state government.
In this role you will play a crucial role in ensuring that organizations receiving federal grants (Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)) adhere to all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on grant recipients' compliance with federal and state grant terms and conditions.
Responsibilities of the Grants Coordinator I:
- Conduct regular on-site visits and desk review of grant recipients to assess their compliance with federal and state regulations. Review financial records, programmatic activities, and documentation to ensure adherence to grant terms.
- Identify any potential issues related to grant compliance and record findings accurately. Recommend opportunities to enhance the compliance monitoring process to senior manager.
Evaluate subgrantee project performance and compliance with agency initiatives monthly, quarterly, and annually.
Identify patterns or trends in sub recipient reporting, expenditures, initiatives, and non-compliance and recommend proactive measures to mitigate risks.
Assess the risk level associated with each assigned grant recipient and make recommendations to supervisor accordingly.
- Provide guidance and assistance to grant recipients in understanding and complying with federal and state requirements. Prepare, conduct, and participate in individual agency trainings and grant compliance policies and procedures. Assist in the preparation of and participate in statewide trainings.
- Maintain regulatory knowledge of current federal and state grant regulations, policies, and guidelines. Serve as program liaison and resource person for other federal, state, and local agency representatives, and the public on issues pertaining to CSBG and LIHEAP.
- Assist in the review of statewide and federal reports to evaluate program compliance and accomplishment of objectives.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, public administration, or a related discipline.)
Additional Requirements:- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Effective interpersonal skills for working with diverse grant recipients.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Working knowledge of computers and word processing software.
- Work with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, and maintain control of all current projects/responsibilities.
- Experience with grants or compliance monitoring is advantageous.
- Must become ROMA certified within first year of employment.
- Position requires routine driver duties.
- Overnight travel is required for this position.
