Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interpreting health information privacy policies to ensure regulation, guidelines, and laws are followed, providing technical guidance to organizational staff on Privacy Act Information Security processes, and assisting with performing initial and periodic comprehensive information security risk assessments.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Major Duties:

  • Develop policies and provide program oversight and compliance of all provisions of privacy related federal legislation and DoD regulations.
  • Serve as a focal point for the health information privacy matters for the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and its Branch Health Clinics (BHCs).
  • Perform Audits of Medical Information.
  • Conduct research of laws and regulations, Department Directives and instructions, and other applicable guidance.
  • Review and analyze programmatic or policy issues related to privacy matters.
  • Manage and facilitate the HIPAA Compliance Team.
  • Report and investigate HIPAA, PA and CLA complaints and alleged violations which may have potential criminal implications subject to legal prosecution.
