Work Schedule: Mon-Fri—6:00 AM to 2:30 PM off-season, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM in season.
Work Location: In person at both Eastmoreland Golf Course (2659 SE Tacoma St, Portland, OR, 97202) and RedTail Golf Course (8985 SW Oleson Rd, Tigard, OR, 97223)

About this Position:
Portland Parks and Recreation’s Golf division consists of 6 municipal golf courses: Colwood, Eastmoreland, Heron Lakes Great Blue and Greenback, RedTail, and Rose City.
Currently, three golf superintendents are utilized; one oversees Heron Lakes, Colwood & Rose City, and the other oversees Eastmoreland and RedTail.
We have an opening for the Eastmoreland/RedTail position.
The Eastmoreland/RedTail Maintenance Supervisor will lead the workgroups in the maintenance of the turfgrass, the stewardship of the lands, and promote inclusion and diversity at the golf facility.

The Eastmoreland/RedTail Maintenance Supervisor has an assistant Assistant Superintendent (Greenskeeper II) at each site to help manage the on-site staff, course setup, fertilizer and pesticide applications, irrigation repair and maintenance, mowing schedules, tournament prep, seasonal supervision and any other duties associated with golf course maintenance.
The successful candidate will have a public pesticide applicator's license, driver’s license, and experience managing at least an 18-hole facility.
As a Maintenance Supervisor I, you will:
- Manage all day-to-day maintenance and general administrative duties.
- Plan maintenance/construction projects.
- Lead by example to create a positive work culture and environment that values safety, equity, quality, and productivity.
- Recruit, hire, schedule, assign work, and supervise Golf course staff; monitor work plans to achieve the program's mission and goals, and ensure work is accomplished in a timely and efficient manner.
- Establish performance requirements and personal development targets with assigned staff; evaluate performance and provide performance improvement guidance. Provide leadership and mentoring to staff.
- Work with the Manager and other program staff to document and continually improve processes and procedures, including field implementation and business practices, to increase program effectiveness and efficiency.
- Establish and maintain a professional work culture, including standards of safety and effectiveness.
- Perform procurement, financial, and record-keeping tasks.
- Understand and provide guidance based on laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to golf.

Requirements
Applicants must describe in their supplemental question responses and résumé how their education, training, work experience and/or lived experience, meets each of the following minimum qualifications:- Knowledge and experience with utilizing pesticide and non-pesticide solutions for sustainability and environmental stewardship on golf courses.
- Knowledge and experience in managing cool-season putting greens in the Pacific Northwest.
- Experience managing the day-to-day operation of more than 18 golf holes, or more than one golf course facility.
- Experience managing irrigation and pumping systems.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to work toward a common goal.
- Experience in managing or coordinating operations across multiple sites or locations, including the ability to identify and resolve complex logistical or operational challenges.
