Full Job Description

The Golf Course Assistant Manager is a full-time Civil Service position in the Metro Parks and Recreation department. The primary duties of this position consist of assisting with the operation and supervision of an 18-hole or larger golf course. Performs related duties as required.

This position will be required to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed to maintain the operating hours of the facility.


Metro’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities and programs throughout Davidson County.

Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 178 parks and 99 miles of greenway.

Metro Parks offers after school programs for children, activities for seniors (55+), cultural arts classes, dog parks, fitness classes, nature programs, sports leagues, ice hockey, art galleries, and much more.

Requirements

  • Supervises all clubhouse and golf course personnel as designated by the Facilities Manager or Golf Course Manager.
  • Ensures all requisitions comply with Departmental standards.
  • Schedules starting times and collects greens fees.
  • Receives and handles complaints from customers.
  • Assists golfers by answering questions and arranging for play.
  • Maintains order on the course.
  • Inspects the course, facilities and equipment for unsafe conditions.
  • Reports unsafe conditions to the supervisor and ensures corrective actions are taken.
  • Estimates amount of inventory to be ordered.
  • Receives money for fees, admission, equipment rental, and sales.
  • Maintains daily cash records and makes daily deposits.
  • Coordinates deliveries with vendors.
  • Receives and verifies inventory.
  • Compiles and maintains accurate records and receipts.
  • Enforces safety rules and regulations.
  • Coordinates and facilitates communication between clubhouse staff and golf maintenance crew.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s Degree and one (1) year experience in a golf course or related recreational operations.

*Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

Additional Information

  • Experience with basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with computerized point-of-sale systems used in retail sales
  • Experience in current golfing techniques, equipment, and golf course operation, including maintenance and clubhouse functions
  • Experience with accounting, budgeting, personnel and purchasing procedures
  • A Valid Driver's License
