Full Job Description

You will serve as a Geographer (Geographic Information Systems) Specialist in the ???????MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying geographic analysis, GIS principles, cartography, and remote sensing techniques to environmental and natural resource management issues.

Utilizing ESRI software suite (ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcIMS, etc.) for data management, analysis, and map production.

Compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting spatially distributed data to support environmental planning, resource management, and compliance efforts.

Collaborating with technical staff and stakeholders to gather data, develop solutions, and implement GIS applications. Providing technical guidance and training on GIS technologies and applications.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • You will facilitate the compilation, cataloging, tracking, storage/retrieval, analysis, updating, and graphical display of natural resources, environmental pollution and cleanup, and military training and construction planning data.
  • You will compile, catalog, track, store/retrieve, analyze, and update spatial data.
  • You will compile, synthesize, analyze, interpret, and present (both graphically in terms of maps and charts in reports).
  • You will plan and complete field investigations, acquire access to and interpret aerial photos, participate in on-site reviews and surveys.
  • You will provide technical advice and guidance to senior staff and provide policy recommendations.
  • You will coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to maintain current data for databases.
  • You will provide training to staff in Geographic Information System technologies and applications.
