About the Position: This position is a General Supply Specialist for the Ft. Bliss Directorate of Emergency Services.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Tracking inventory levels to maintain accurate supply stock; 2) Utilizing automated supply logistics systems to review inventory records; 3) Providing support in gathering data relating to property loss or damage.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07) OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as supply planning, inventory management, and financial management.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Develop schedules to inventory all property including supplies in use, on loan, in storage, or awaiting disposition.
  • Utilize computer systems to monitor, update, and retrieve supply data.
  • Analyze supply work methods and data accuracy, solve complex operational problems, and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
  • Interpret guidelines pertinent to organizational operations with minimal instruction and guidance.
  • Oversee copier maintenance including processing service requests and ensuring supplies are stocked per regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Process discrepancy reports on any damaged items received.
  • Conduct market research and negotiate prices with vendors to obtain supplies and equipment at best value.
  • Review Government Purchase Card statements with original purchase request, invoices and resolves any discrepancies.
