Requirements
Supervises a group of general laborers in performing unskilled and semi-skilled manual work tasks; supervises equipment operators in the maintenance of road shoulders, paved areas and adjacent grounds; and performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Experience and Training: (1) Four (4) years of semi-skilled manual work experience of which one (1) year shall have involved the supervision of the repair of pavement and the maintenance of the grounds; or (2) any equivalent combination of experience and training.Knowledge of: Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the repair of pavement; occupational hazard and safety precautions applications to the operations of construction equipment; principles and practices of supervision.
Ability to: Operate and maintain construction equipment such as graders, roller and trucks; plan, layout, assign and review the work of others in the performance of maintenance and repair work to paved areas and the adjacent grounds; give and receive both oral and written instructions; prepare operational reports.
Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. This vacancy has this requirement.
Special Requirements: Applicants must be able to lift and carry items of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation.
Other Requirements (Certification):
Pursuant to Title 11, Chapter 61 of the Hawaii Administrative Rules, involvement in the operation and maintenance of the Kulani WWTP, plant requires WWTP Operator Certification. Therefore, applicants must possess a valid State of Hawaii Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator, Grade I Certificate, at the time of application.
Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement: As required by the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA), Federal law states that "...an agency shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates and who:- Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.
- Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
- Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in #2 above.
- Has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
Other Requirements: Applicants who are conditionally offered employment or conditionally approved for movement into positions with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shall be subject to drug screening, as required by Federal, State or local laws or departmental policy; and will be subject to an intensive background check.
