This job involves operating forklifts and power sweepers to handle materials, clean floors and outdoor areas, and maintain facilities at the Government Publishing Office in Washington, DC.

This position is part of the Agency Support Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia To qualify for the Forklift Operator, KX-5704-04 position, applicants must meet the following Screen Out-Element: #1 Ability To Do The Work Of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.
Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element.
If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT is not sufficient, you will not receive further consideration.
In addition to the requirements above, applicants must have the following knowledge and abilities: 1)Handling controls for starting stopping, backing and driving a power sweeper/low lift truck forklift through narrow aisles, and storage areas, 2)Safely operating a low lift truck forklift or power sweeper while taking in account the dimensions, balancing and maximum weight load capacity of the fork lift, 3) Performing operator inspection checks on power trucks, 4) Handling and controlling heavy and light weight powered equipment such as vacuum cleaners, high speed buffers, polishers and floor scrubbers.
outbound shipment; and 5) Operating forklifts with knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Hazard Administration (OSHA) guidelines to prevent injury to personnel or damage to equipment and materials.
