Job Description
Summary
This job involves performing autopsies and investigations to determine causes of death in suspicious or unexplained cases, working for the county coroner's office in Sacramento.
A good fit would be a licensed medical doctor with specialized training in pathology who is detail-oriented and comfortable handling sensitive situations involving death and legal proceedings.
Key Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Completion of residency in anatomic pathology
- Board certification or eligibility in forensic pathology from the American Board of Pathology
- Valid California medical license
- Experience in conducting autopsies and death investigations
- Ability to testify in court as an expert witness
- Specialization in areas like neuropathology or pediatric pathology for premium pay eligibility
Full Job Description
In addition to the posted salary, Forensic Pathologists certified in Neuropathology, Pediatric Pathology or other recognized specialties, shall receive Premium Pay in the amount of 10% of their base salary.
Forensic Pathologists assigned Standby shifts receive 12.5% of their base salary for each hour assigned.
