This job involves working as a mid-level manager in the Air Force to support human resources operations, such as employee training, performance reviews, and program planning, while gaining broader leadership experience.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide developmental experience designed to broaden the skills and/or enhance the leadership perspective of an identified high-potential, mid-level manager/executive while contributing support to the mission and function of the AF.
It is not a continuing position and assignment duration is NTE 36 months.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
Examples of specialized experience include the ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and techniques related to a full range of difficult and complex problems involving Federal civilian and military programs to identify problems, recommend solutions, and assess implications or alternatives.
To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been at the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the federal service.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-12 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral.
TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.
Knowledge of USAF, DoD, and Federal programs, practices, guidelines, regulations, and laws for human resources management, including development and execution education, performance management, compensations, awards and record management.
2. Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for assessment of human resources programs and planning initiatives. 3.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all echelons of staff and management officials. 4.
Knowledge of and skill in applying analytical methods and techniques, to accurately assess and analyze information and make sound recommendations/decisions to resolve human resource management and other personnel issues and problems.
5. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and to lead and/or actively participate as contributing team member. 6. Skill in analyzing issues and formulating solutions to problems. 7.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with high-level management officials, supervisors, employees, coworkers and others, to ensure cooperative resolution of problems and provide effective coordination of activities.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
Performs career broadening assignments researching, analyzing, and evaluating force support operations to include Airman and Family Services, Force Development, Community Services, Sustainment, and Manpower and Personnel flights.
Performs career broadening assignments by implementing the Air force plan for FSS development to meet functional Air Force-wide needs.
Career broadening assignments involve initiating projects to enhance leadership programs through innovative customer-focused services.
Carries out special projects and assignments designed specifically to meet the broadening intent of the position.
