About the Position: This position is with the Defense Commissary Agency, located in Ramstein, Germany.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Food Service Worker Leader for the delicatessen/bakery departments and to also perform non-lead Food Service Worker duties of the assigned departments.

Current Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) employees Family Member Preference (FMP) for Overseas Employment Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan Military Spouse Preference (MSP) for Overseas Employment Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker Leader without more than normal supervision.

I have the ability to perform common Food Service Worker Leader duties.

I can assign immediate tasks, accomplish food service work, insure needed stock is obtained, check work progress, monitor sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines, assure safety and housekeeping rules are followed.

I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.

Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices Physical Effort: Work requires light to moderate physical effort.

Workers are subject to continuous walking, standing, bending, pushing and pulling. They may be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment.

They frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds: lifts heavier items with assistance.

Working Conditions: The work is normally performed in a deli or bakery area where some temperatures may be uncomfortable.

Areas are well lighted, but there may be dangers of slipping on floors, exposure to hot surfaces and liquids, sharp cutting utensils, and extreme temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators or frozen foods units.

Major Duties:

  • Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor.
  • Review operations for status and progress, causes of delays and other problems.
  • Insure that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
  • Issue instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
  • Assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
