This senior leadership role involves overseeing engineering, maintenance, and support services for naval aircraft fleets at readiness centers, ensuring they stay operational and efficient for the Navy and Marine Corps.
It requires managing teams, resources, and projects to deliver high-quality repairs and upgrades while aligning with government goals.
Ideal candidates are experienced engineers with deep aviation knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a passion for public service and efficiency in federal operations.
You will serve as the Fleet Support Team Executive/Chief Engineer, Fleet Readiness Centers within the Naval Air Systems Command, Fleet Readiness Centers (FRCs) with an assigned duty station location of either Patuxent River, MD, Cherry Point, NC, Jacksonville, FL, or San Diego, CA.
You will provide maintenance, modification, manufacturing, repair and overhaul (M3RO) and engineering, logistics and technical support services to the Fleet and aviation program offices.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (TQs): Your resume should demonstrate accomplishments that would satisfy the technical qualifications. TQ #1.
Expert knowledge of aviation systems engineering, design, integration, and sustainment, including application across the full life cycle within Navy and Marine Corps operational environments. TQ #2.
Comprehensive knowledge of DoD and Navy organizational missions, structures, and governance, including government policies, procedures, and current initiatives that shape aviation system lifecycle sustainment and engineering decision-making and execution.
EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs): In addition to the Technical Qualification Requirements listed above, all new entrants into the Senior Executive Service (SES) under a career appointment will be assessed for executive competency against the following five mandatory ECQs.

ECQ 3: Merit and Competence - This core qualification involves the demonstrated knowledge, ability and technical competence to effectively and reliably produce work that is of exceptional quality.
ECQ 4: Leading People - This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a group toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals, and to drive a high-performance, high-accountability culture.
This includes, when necessary, the ability to lead people through change and to hold individuals accountable.
ECQ 5: Achieving Results - This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to achieve both individual and organizational results, and to align results to stated goals from superiors.
Note: If you are a member of the SES or have been certified through successful participation in an OPM approved SES Candidate Development Program (SESCDP), or have SES reinstatement eligibility, you do not need to respond to the ECQs.
Instead, you should attach proof (e.g., SF-50, Certification by OPM's SES Qualifications Review Board (QRB)) of your eligibility for noncompetitive appointment to the SES.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
