This position is located at: Wheelock Fitness Center - Fort Polk, Louisiana. Join the Wheelock Fitness Center team!

This fitness center offers a variety of services that includes cardio and weight equipment, a sauna, a steam room, and a walking and running track, rock climbing wall and group exercise room.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: 1.

Possess directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that includes a variety of individual, and team sports, and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports.

2. Experience that includes the demonstrated ability to manage and operate complex multiple fitness facilities. 3.

The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. Highly Preferred: 1.

Candidates who possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and the ability, knowledge and skills to perform the duties identified above.

2. Successful completion of MWR Sports and Fitness Administration Course and Lifeguard Management. This announcement is inclusive of established Highly Preferred criteria.

  • Supervises and oversees the management and operation of a Fitness Facility. Establishes employee work schedules and performance objectives and appraisals.
  • Assists in the development of budgetary and manpower requirements and recommends adjustments due to changes in program demands or hours of operation. Maximizes facility usage for both organized functions and individual development.
  • Assists in the development and reviews specifications for instructors and other contracts. Monitors contractor performance, extending or terminating contracts as warranted, in conjunction with NAF Contracting and approves payments.
  • Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures. Continually assesses facility requirements and develops plans and specifications for projects to augment or replace fitness and sports facilities.
  • Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Works with fitness facility staff to recommend purchase/construction of equipment and facilities.
