The Fiscal Services Manager reports directly to the Clerk of Superior Court. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape the financial and fiscal direction and integrity of the Clerk’s Office.

In addition, the Fiscal Services Manager will play a central role in the design, execution, and implementation of a new financial case management system being developed specifically to meet the operational and reporting needs of the Clerk’s Office.

This is a rare opportunity to help build and launch a system from the ground up—modernizing financial workflows, strengthening data integrity, and enhancing service delivery for years to come.

As a seasoned finance professional with deep expertise in accounting principles and practices, you will serve as a key member of the management team, influencing the financial operations, oversight, and policy development.

This role manages and supervises the finance team of the Clerk’s Office.


Some of your responsibilities include preparing and managing the department’s budget, court fees, and legal financial obligations; managing the trust and bank accounts and financial systems; and implementing proper segregation of duties and cash-handling procedures.

You will process and manage unclaimed property, stay informed about legislative and court-related changes affecting division and department operations, and implement necessary processes and solutions to ensure compliance with laws, policies, court rules, and orders.

Leading the internal and external audits for the department is crucial for this role.

You will ensure disciplined stewardship, unwavering accountability, and exceptional governance across the entire organization.


This role also has a key fiscal and finance oversight of the Pierce County Law Library and other entities under the Clerk’s Office.

Core Daily Responsibilities:

  • Supervises collection of statutory fees and fines to be held in separate trusts as directed by court order, receipt and disbursement of funds, and child support payments.
  • Responsible for maintaining accountability of superior and juvenile court fees, fines, and investments.
  • Establishes investment accounts per court orders for individuals involved in litigation with financial institutions in Pierce County.
  • Supervises and coordinates the activities of fiscal support employees.
  • Supervises data collection for the preparation of financial reports on departmental activities.
  • Reviews proposed expenditures to determine compliance with allocated budget expenditures and recommends approval or disapproval of expenditures while keeping the department head informed.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, business, or public administration, AND
  • Four or more years of related experience, which includes
  • At least one year in a supervisory/lead capacity.
  • Any combination of experience/education that would clearly indicate the ability to perform the duties of the position will substitute for the recruiting requirements.
