The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a motivated and hardworking Fiscal Management Specialist 5 to lead our team in the Bureau of Budget.

Requirements

In this position, you will manage and direct the activities in support of budget planning and analysis for various human services offices.

Your work will involve planning the overall strategy for effectively addressing short and long-term fiscal and administrative objectives.

You will provide assistance to DHS program office personnel in the preparation of data to support funding requests.

These funding requests will often be for ongoing operations, new initiatives, and proposals to enhance client services or improve administrative operations.

Some of your duties will include analyzing budget request estimates, developing budget estimates for the annual budget, and preparing fiscal data to support the estimates.

Additionally, you will supervise and evaluate the work of subordinate staff, as well as provide the status of assigned projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.

    Employees are required to report to the office 2 days per week, as determined by the Division Director or Bureau Director In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Management Specialist 4 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in professional fiscal administration, one of which includes serving in a supervisory capacity, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of professional supervisory experience in fiscal administration.
