The Department of Labor & Industry is searching for a high powered candidate to join our Bureau of Financial Management and participate in this important work as a Fiscal Management Specialist 3.
With our team, you will work closely with L&I program area Department staff to provide fiscal control through your responsibility for developing the annual Departmental budgets and rebudgets, monitoring funding throughout the fiscal cycle, providing oversight for state and federal grants, and performing other professional financial management functions.

In this role, you will perform independent, professional analytical work in the preparation, review, and analysis of fiscal information used in agency planning, program management and monitoring, and financial auditing.
The financial planning and managing of departmental and agency programs, initiatives, and projects will be among your most important responsibilities.
This includes ongoing development, execution, coordination, and evaluation, as well as preparing and analyzing information for the agency budget request, re-budget, program revision requests, program spending plan, mid-year review, and year-end closing.
Work involves preparing and interpreting financial reports and statements, interpreting and explaining budget policies and procedures, analyzing and applying budget documents, and providing technical assistance to assigned program areas.
A working knowledge of the principles and practices of governmental accounting along with effective communication, collaboration, and prioritization are the foundation of success in this position.
Our team will rely on your knowledge and experience for providing consultation and guidance to bureau and executive staff regarding the assignment and monitoring of work, and effective problem solving.
This includes recommending solutions and facilitating the resolution of financial problems and issues such as the fiscal status and progress of projects and program activity, as well as recommending strategies for financial or budgetary enhancements, to continuously improve program performance, to efficiently expend resources, and to increase levels of customer service.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week, at the discretion of the BFM Director.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
