Requirements

As a Fiscal Management Specialist 2, you will review, interpret, and propose adjustments to financial cost reports submitted by providers participating in the Medical Assistance Program.

This will include acute care and specialty units of general hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), Rural Health Clinics (RHC), and freestanding psychiatric, drug and alcohol, and medical rehabilitation hospitals.

You will examine financial cost reports, review calculations for proposed per diem rates for new hospitals and Prospective Payment System (PPS) rates for new FQHCs/RHCs, and determine program exception rates for proposed procedures and equipment.

This role requires the ability to independently develop detailed plans for project completion and sound judgement.

Success in this position will rely on solid knowledge of Medicare cost reimbursement principles, medical assistance regulations, state and federal laws and regulations, and how they impact the cost reporting system.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Management Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in professional fiscal administration, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
