Job Description

Summary

This job involves handling financial tasks like processing payments for purchases, contracts, and travel, as well as managing procurement cards and monitoring errors in the state's financial system for the Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism.

Full Job Description

The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism is a cabinet agency assigned to operate and manage South Carolina's state parks, market the state as a preferred vacation destination and provide assistance to communities to develop recreation assets.

Job Purpose and Duties:

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for processing the agency's purchase order and contract payments, travel advances and reimbursements, and monthly procurement card invoice.

1) Perform accounts payable procurement functions for the Accounts Payable section of the Finance Office.
2) Process travel advances and approves travel reimbursements for the entire agency.
3) Process direct pay for registrations, prospect expenses, grant payments VOIP phones, and the Atalaya Festival. Other direct pays may occur.
4) Participate in processing the Bank of America procurement card payment.
6) Monitor SCEIS Errors and tax levies. Monitor purchase order transactions for mismatches between quantity received and quantity paid which causes a non-payment. Prepare the Energy Progress Report for State Parks.
7) Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.


Requirements

Associate degree with a minimum of 12 semester hours in Accounting related courses; or a high school diploma and three (3) years of related experience with automated systems.

Additional Requirements:

1) Employee should be familiar with and have experience using the South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS). Proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include, but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.
2) Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Additional Information

Actual Job Location: Finance

Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours weekly.
