Job Title: Fiscal Analyst 4 (FA4)
Location: Olympia, WA - Full-Time/Hybrid with in-office days
Closes: March 31st, 2026
Salary: $64,776 - $87,048 Annually
As a Fiscal Analyst 4, this position supports the agency’s mission by being a resource for internal and external stakeholders at all levels. This position processes various payments and cancellations, conducts financial reviews and analysis of fiscal data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and supports the Accounting Unit when needed. This position serves as Principal Assistant to its Supervisor and provides support and expert consultation in the various areas of accounting.

Some of what you'll get to will do:- Utilize proper accounting procedures and methods in accordance with GAAP, the State Accounting Administrative Manual (SAAM), Revised Code of Washington (RCW), Washington Administrative Code (WAC), agency polices, and other federal and state law regulations.
- Reconcile, complete, and correct entries as appropriate in the various general ledger's unit.
- Act as the liaison between the Client Unit and stakeholders. Responsible for fiscal assessment and analysis of the accounts payable and make program management decisions regarding the development and modifications to the process.
- Maintain subject matter expertise of accounts payable processes. This includes, but not limited to, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of current practices to determine efficient processes for the agency to follow.
- Prepare and process payments to vendors and clients using Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS).
- Review staff work for accuracy, validity, and compliance with state, federal, and agency policies.
- Validate appropriate account coding was used to ensure expenditures are accurately expensed to the correct funding source.
- Ensure all desk manual procedures are up to date and accurate.
- Participate in staff meetings by serving as a resource, offering solutions to problems that arise, and using the information gathered at the meetings to improve job performance.
Required Qualifications:- Equivalent education and professional experience totaling six (6) years.
OR- A bachelor's degree and two (2) years of relevant professional experience,
AND
- The ability to take action to learn and grow.
- The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all the following: - Bachelor’s degree, which includes at least 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing or budgeting and three to four years of relevant professional experience.
- Master’s degree in a financial related field, certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Governmental Financial Manager or Management Accountant.
