Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is included under the provisions of Special Retirement Coverage (SRC) and may have both a maximum entry age and a mandatory retirement date.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience Statement (HR/SME): One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Responding to fire and rescue incidents such as brush, forest and structural fires, hazardous material spills, releases and containment and decontamination work; 2) Providing basic life support treatment to patients within the pre-hospital environment; 3) Performing patient assessments and examinations and providing prompt and efficient patient care.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the specialized experience required to qualify for the GS-07 level you must also possess and maintain ALL the following Department of Defense (or reciprocal equivalent) certifications: Firefighter II Certified as a Virginia and/or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician You MUST submit a copy of the above certifications certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) (AND California or National Registry EMT Certification Card indicating a future expiration).

• Respond on and off site to accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illnesses.
• Respond to alarms, combats fire, and rescues personnel requiring the full performance of firefighting tasks.
• Inspect operational readiness of fire apparatus, medic units, and various types of equipment.
• Unreel and connect hose, lays hose lines, operates charged lines, places and raises ladders, operates portable and stationary firefighting apparatus, and ventilates buildings.
