Base salary range: $51,332 - $66,732

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves managing finances for the U.S. Marshals Service by reviewing budgets, tracking spending, and ensuring everything follows the rules to help the district run smoothly.
You'll analyze reports, spot issues, and suggest better ways to handle money matters.
It's a good fit for someone with a couple of years in finance or accounting who likes solving problems and working in a government setting.
These positions are available throughout various USMS Districts in the Continental US (CONUS). The selectee of this position serves as a Financial Specialist.
You will be responsible for analyzing existing District procedures to identify more efficient and effective methods for accomplishing program objectives and recommending changes/improvements to District management.
Duty location will be determined at the time of selection. Pay will be determined based on duty location.
GS-9 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-7 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 grade level.
(Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).
You may qualify at the GS-0501-9 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications: A.
Specialized Experience: One year (12-months) of full-time specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to:1) Review financial reports in order to identify problem areas and recommend solutions; 2) Analyze financial obligations and expenditures to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; 3) Advise management on procurements and/or purchase requests; and 4) Recognize and apply problem solving to complex problems.
(Note: Your resume must CLEARLY demonstrate this experience.) OR B.
Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree in an accredited or pre-accredited college or university; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.B.
or J.D degree, if related.
Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position, examples of qualifying fields include Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Project Management (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR C.

As a Financial Specialist at the GS-0501-9 level, some of your typical work assignments may include: Overseeing the District financial management program.
analyzing the District's financial obligations and expenditures to ensure compliance with USMS policies and procedures. Tracking the District work plan expenditures and other funding.
Monitoring the District budget to ensure funds are obligated and spent in a timely and effective manner. Reviewing and analyzing financial reports.
