GENERAL SUMMARY
The Financial Aid Advisor/Verification Coordinator reports to the
Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations.
This position requires a highly functional knowledge of federal student aid eligibility regulation, exceptional analytical skills and exercises a high degree of professional judgment.
This position coordinates processing for all aid applications and verification processes received by the office in compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations, guidelines and procedures.
The Financial Aid Advisor/Verification Coordinator supports students, parents, and other financial aid office functions regarding application process, eligibility, analysis, budgeting, packaging and disbursement in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines; and evaluates and analyzes complex eligibility and application requirements and resolves discrepancies.
This position is also responsible for annual review and implementing federal verification guidelines, and for resolving C flags, ISIR data corrections, rejected files and all ISIR loading processes.
PRIMARY DUTIES
The Verification Coordinator maintains expert knowledge of federal, state and institutional policies regarding all types of financial aid (i.e., Pell Grant, Colorado Student Grant, Stafford loans, etc.).
This individual resolves data integrity issues and discrepancies within the system independently. This position involves the financial aid verification process.
An in-depth understanding of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and required documentation is necessary.
This individual identifies and resolves issues with conflicting information between documents and the FAFSA.
They package financial aid awards based on needs-analysis, federal regulations, cost of attendance, and institutional budgets. This individual also processes all incoming ISIRs.
This position requires face-to face contact with a diverse population of students and advises both students and parents of the various aspects of financial aid (i.e., application procedures, verification documentation, scholarship and grant guidelines, federal and private loan conditions, Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements, etc.).
The Verification Coordinator is responsible for handling discrepancies in federal student aid eligibility, including C-flags, rejected ISIRs, comment codes, rejects and other issues related to ISIR and CPS processing.
This position does a great deal of independent investigation and resolution of student or application issues.
This is a high stress position which requires a mastery of complex regulations, meeting process goals and reporting progress to the supervisor. The Verification Coordinator job duties include:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Associate degree in Business, Education, Social Sciences, Accounting, or a related field.

Two (2) years of hands-on experience working in a college/university Financial Aid office performing:

Ability to work in a high-volume, multi-tasked area, and dealing with a large diverse population of students. Should possess high energy, attention to detail, and the ability to organize effectively. Must be available to work during peak periods based on job responsibilities and college calendar.
