This job involves caring for horses and bunnies on a farm at a state center for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, while planning and leading horseback riding lessons and grooming activities for residents.
It also includes maintaining farm buildings and equipment, documenting progress, and working with a team to ensure safety and support.
A good fit would be someone who loves animals, enjoys teaching others, and has patience and empathy for working with disabled individuals in an outdoor setting.
Minimum qualifications

Acting as a resource to team members, participating in team and professional meetings and giving input as to the needs of clients.Ensuring the safety and maintenance of physical areas and equipment used during therapy/treatment.Developing appropriate safety and/or service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc.Inspecting facilities, machinery, equipment, systems, etc., to verify safety, maintenance, conditions, functions, and quality.Detecting, eliminating or minimizing safety hazards.Cleaning, and or disinfecting areas and/or equipment.Ensuring confidentiality for the individuals by directing questions/requests to appropriate parties.
Qualifications (Includes knowledge, skills, and abilities required upon entry into position and trainable after entry into position)Identify developmental needs of others and coach, mentor, or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge, skills and abilities.Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally.Obtain and see to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to perform a task.Observe details at close range and at a distance.Observe physical conditions, behavior or surroundings for potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity.Hear sounds that may indicate potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity.
Additional Information Work requires physical exertion.
May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
