Job Description
Summary
This job involves helping run a farm that grows crops, raises beef cattle, manages pastures, and produces food for inmates, including overseeing a greenhouse and honey bee operations.
You'll also supervise and train inmate workers to keep everything running smoothly.
It's a good fit for someone with hands-on farming experience who is comfortable working in a correctional environment and enjoys leading teams.
Key Requirements
- Associate's degree and one year of relevant program experience, or high school diploma and two years of relevant program experience
- Must obtain a private pesticide applicator's license within one year of employment
- Ability to assist in operating row crops, beef cattle, pasture management, and produce growing
- Supervision and training of inmate workforce crews
- Oversight of greenhouse operations and honey bee harvesting for pollination
- Successful completion of four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire

- Assist in the operation and management of a diverse farming operation.
- The operation consists of row crops, beef cattle, pasture management and the growing of produce for inmate consumption.
- Supervision of a greenhouse operation with oversight of the harvesting of honey from bees grown for pollination.
