This is a non-merit position. Recruitment for this position will be handled by the Family Court of St. Louis County. Position is eligible for Public Service Loan ForgivenessAn employee in this position performs professional work and project coordination of marked difficulty requiring significant independent judgment.
Work involves responsibility for the direct supervision and facilitation of the Juvenile Conference Committee (JCC) Program.
Direct supervision and facilitation of the program includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks: reviewing appropriateness of new referrals; preparing a case for meetings with the committee; assisting in the facilitation of the monthly committee meetings; and providing support and guidance to the JCC committees regarding recommendations for case handling.
Work also includes direct case management services for youth in the JCC Program, including making referrals to the Juvenile Office and community-based programming, and scheduling follow-up meetings with the JCC Committee.
An employee in this position also has supervisory responsibility for a large number of program volunteers.
This responsibility includes developing and implementing strategies for the recruitment and retention of volunteers and areas for the committee members' ongoing growth and development.
In addition, work involves maintaining, facilitating, and finding areas of growth for the Youth Diversion Program (YDP).
Trains and supervises staff and volunteers; coordinates staff and volunteer schedules.
Develops/refines program policies, procedures and forms, including development of the program manual and informational brochures.
Represents the program to Juvenile Office staff, attorneys, Family Court Judiciary, program participants, and the community.
Receives and reviews new referrals; schedules new participants for orientation interviews.
Conducts orientation interviews.
Develops a Police Officer Liaison Program.
Acts as a liaison between the Family Court and the Juvenile Conference Committee; supervises and ensures compliance of all agreements.
Contacts attorneys as needed regarding client participation/compliance problems.
Schedules and oversees the Juvenile Conference Committee meetings.
Develops a diverse volunteer staff that is reflective of the composition of the community.
Coordinates diversion opportunities for community partners.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related social/behavioral science (a Master’s degree is preferred).
Plus at least one year of professional experience working with youth and families or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
This job requires skill working with a diverse population of people. Good writing, oral communication, and time management skills are also essential.
