Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and security of a military headquarters facility in Hawaii, including coordinating repairs, managing contractors, and handling emergencies to keep everything running smoothly.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in facility management, especially in secure government or defense settings, who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with technical tools and project coordination.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a FACILITY OPERATIONS SPECIALIST in the FACILITIES BRANCH, HEADQUARTERS COMMANDANT of HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: 1) Working within a facility engineer/maintenance capacity in a high-security environment, such as federal, military, or defense contractor facility; 2) Coordinating construction and renovation projects, and/or managing document destruction/security programs; 3) Advising on emergency management or disaster preparedness; 4) Utilizing AutoCAD; 5) Providing mission-critical infrastructure support and oversight of federal contracts; and 6) Demonstrating security clearance processing and maintenance experience.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will manage the Headquarters repair and maintenance program.
  • You will serve as the primary point of contact and technical liaison for all facility-related work and provide 24/7 support to the Command on all facilities-related emergencies.
  • You will coordinate work performed by outside agencies and contractors, as well as in-house personnel to ensure all HQ USINDOPACOM facilities remain operational to support the Command’s mission.
  • You will develop smaller scale projects such as construction or renovations, furniture reconfigurations, and equipment upgrades.
  • You will oversee all facility related service contracts and convey the Command’s perspective on custodial, landscaping, elevator, warehousing and other service contracts.
  • You will develop and execute an effective inspection program to address facility maintenance, as well as potential fire, safety and industrial hygiene issues.
  • You will manage the Command’s document disintegrator (shredder) and media (electronic, optical and hard drives) destruction program.
  • You will oversee and manage operation of the branch’s Trouble Desk.
