This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as the senior strategic COOP planner for the Joint Staff, J6 Directorate.
You may qualify at the GS- 14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the 13 grade level in the Federal service: Expert overseeing all facets of directorate planning, mobilization planning and contingency operational tasking requirements.
Knowledge of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), Operations Plans (OPLANS), Execution Order (EXORD), Warning Order (WARNORD), Command Control, Communications and Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR), cyber and space annexes.
Developing training requirements and analyze exercise operations to identify deficiencies in staff readiness.
Expert knowledge of crisis action and contingency planning in order to advise crisis action planners.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
As an EXERCISE AND CONTINGENCY PLANNER at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Subject matter expert and oversees and directs all facets of directorate exercise planning, mobilization planning and contingency operational tasking requirements in support of directorate involvement in global-level, joint-level, service component-level and coalition exercises as directed.
Analyzes exercise operations to identify deficiencies in staff readiness, makes recommendations for resolutions, and coordinates the activities necessary to better achieve mission goals.
Primary directorate liaison with Combatant Command (CCMD), Department of Defense (DoD), and non-DoD agency exercise planners in the areas of cyber defense, cyber operations, satellite, and C4 operations.
Manages and assists JS COOP OPLAN execution during exercises and real world events.
Maintains compatibility between COOP plans of the OSD, Joint Staff, other Services, and components in order to support the Command.
