This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Investment and Innovation in Patient Capital Investments Division Examinations Unit.
The incumbent's primary function is to examine individual SBICs for compliance with laws, regulations, and agency policies for effective oversight of licensed companies within the SBIC program.
Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: Analyzing financial reports, financial transactions and organizational structures to determine the financial soundness of a business; and Presenting financial and technical information to management and other stakeholders regarding regulatory compliance issues; and Researching and analyzing processes regarding financial and regulatory examinations.

Duty Locations: The salary range indicated in this announcement reflects the minimum locality pay up to maximum locality pay for all duty locations listed.
The range will be adjusted for selected duty location. For GS-12 $89,508 to $137,128 GS-13 - $106,437 to $163,062 General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under OPM Salary & Wages.
As an Examiner, GS-0501-12, you will be responsible for: Planning, coordinating, and conducting comprehensive examinations of Small Business Investment Companies to determine compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies.
Participating in conferences with key officials of Small Business Investment Companies, agency officials and other personnel to provide information regarding the results of examinations conducted.
Developing recommendations regarding procedural changes for improving the program regulatory oversight functions.
As directed, conducting special examinations of Small Business Investment Companies involving complex financial or regulatory matters, or history of regulatory non-compliance.
The GS-0501-12 Examiner is developmental in nature to the full performance level of GS-13.
As an Examiner, GS-0501-13, you will be responsible for: Planning, coordinating, and conducting comprehensive examinations of Small Business Investment Companies to determine compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies.
Participating in conferences with key officials of Small Business Investment Companies, agency officials and other personnel to provide information regarding the results of examinations conducted.
